Our client, a leading independent publisher of award-winning business books from global experts, academics and specialist professionals is recruiting for an Academic Sales Representative. The focus of the role is to win UK and International adoptions of key titles by managing and processing academic campaigns, generating interest in print titles and digital collections. This is a strong opportunity to enter the publishing industry and build up knowledge and expertise in the sales team.
Build and maintain key relationships with academic clients to drive forward adoption of the full print and digital collection
Win adoptions in UK and European universities by getting the books in the hands of potential adopters and qualifying/following up on inspection copy requests from lead generation campaigns
Manage a pipeline of qualified opportunities and follow-up/close in academic decision windows
Regular travel to meet academic clients on campus and attend conferences and industry events
Feedback to Sales and Editorial on market trends and lecturer needs to inform new product development
Proactively solicit author leads for editorial
Feed into the strategy for marketing campaigns, decide what campaigns to run, process campaigns and follow-up
Carry out administrative tasks such as processing inspection copy requests and maintaining the CRM system.
Suitable candidates will have previous experience in a Sales or Marketing role, ideally within academic or educational publishing. Individuals will need to be motivated self-starters who are highly organised and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. An ability to build relationships with multiple stakeholders both internally and externally will be an important part of the role.
