A global research publisher with one of the most successful track records for growth over the last ten years is looking to recruit an Acquisitions Editor to commission content for digital Reference products for academic libraries globally.

As part of the growing Library Editorial team you will work within a dynamic program to increase the digital product portfolio for library customers, with responsibility for the following:

  • Commissioning Reference titles in a wide range of social science disciplines
  • Managing the content development and quality of content for selected titles
  • Negotiating contracts and other agreements with editors, authors and other contributors
  • Delivering content on schedule and on budget
  • Collaborating with team members and external partners to ensure suitable high-quality content
  • Researching and communicating the evolving pedagogical needs
  • Developing relationships and building a network of potential authors and editors
  • Attending relevant annual conferences
  • Liaising with leading academics to ensure Reference program meets market needs
  • Partnering with Marketing and Sales departments to support sell-through to global library markets
  • Defining market research priorities, making campus visits and conducting competitive research.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level with commissioning experience in academic publishing, ideally for the library markets. Have a proactive approach with good commercial and research awareness. The ability to plan and manage multiple projects and effectively multitask. Also the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including senior academics.
