Our client, a leading research journals publisher has an exciting Area Sales Manager – UK opportunity. This is a fantastic role for a successful Sales professional looking for a new challenge as it combines effective team management with a core focus on strategic sales activities in the UK. Reporting to the EMEA Head of Sales this role will contribute to setting the strategic agenda for operations within the region and lead high-level negotiations and build innovative and commercially significant partnerships to grow market share.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing, guiding and mentoring a team of 2-3 sales and support executives
  • Planning, scheduling and carrying out regular sales visits to customers to achieve financial targets within your sales region, customising sales documentation and tools to maximize sales opportunities
  • Working to ensure that trading with each account is sustainable, profitable and delivering a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Reporting periodically to the Head of Sales on sales progress and the business environment
  • Establishing a strategic approach to the short, medium and long term business on territory, to ensure that activity is both relevant and flexible to the evolving trading environment
  • Preparing for and contributing to sales meetings and events to build strategic awareness and to gather market relevant intelligence
  • Acting as liaison with Product Development in support of solution-specific sales that respond to customer needs as well as other departments
  • Actively liaise with stakeholder departments or groups within the business to enhance coverage of the territory increasing Influence in the library market and beyond.

Ideal candidates will have significant experience of working in a sales environment with a track record of success. Experience of managing and developing a team is desirable but not essential. The ability to communicate clearly and set realistic development goals for team members is essential. Excellent knowledge and experience of selling to Institutional Library customers and experience of the UK academic publishing market is a distinct advantage. A successful proven track record of formulating and delivering successful sales strategies is required. Individuals who are driven by results and can influence a team to manage and deliver sales plans are well suited to this role.
