Associate Editor – Research Methods, 9-month FTC

Our client, a global academic publisher with one of the most successful track records for growth over the last ten years, is looking for an Associate Editor (9-month FTC). The role will focus on planning and delivering diverse and high-quality content in a timely manner and on budget, working closely with digital production and development.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead on commissioning content published in several annual collections, deliver on ambitious commissioning targets
  • Manage the peer review process to ensure high quality of content.
  • Contribute significantly to the creation of content by developing commissioning strategies and meeting weekly/monthly targets
  • Work closely and frequently with authors to make sure content is submitted to deadlines and developed to an excellent academic standard
  • Undertake a range of administrative duties that support timely delivery of content to production, including tracking individual pieces of content and contracting
  • Collaborate with the content development, product management, marketing, and production teams to ensure timely launch of each module
  • Assist with the development of content strategy, with guidance from the editorial lead
  • Contribute positively to departmental and cross departmental meetings and look for opportunities to improve workflows and processes.

Ideal candidates will have experience in academic publishing and have commissioning experience in digital or print-based product development is desired but not essential. Excellent communication skills and relationship building skills are essential. Individuals will need a high attention to detail and strong organisation skills to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines within a fast-paced environment. Proficient in standard IT packages including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn internal IT and content management systems.
