Our client, a global academic publisher with one of the most successful track records for growth over the last ten years, is looking for a Commissioning Editor to lead on commissioning and developing online courses, within one of their flagship product ranges.

The Commissioning Editor is accountable for the overall delivery of high-quality course content and the provision of great learning experiences, whilst ensuring the course programme supports ambitious existing and continued growth plans. This is a busy, challenging and forward thinking role with main responsibilities including:

 

  • Commissioning new courses from agreed priority list
  • Identifying potential partners for authoring new courses
  • Building both existing and new partnerships to support commercial goals
  • Carrying out new course development, including market research, developing course outlines and content plans, briefing SME’s and negotiating contracts
  • Working closely with authors, external content partners and the Instructional Designer to ensure content is submitted to deadlines and to an excellent academic standard
  • Supporting pedagogical design and development of new online courses in conjunction with Instructional Designer and SME’s
  • Ensuring the peer review process enables goals and objectives to be met
  • Working closely with in-house teams including design, production and marketing, to ensure seamless delivery of high quality content, from concept to launch
  • Mentoring and coaching of Editorial and Publishing team members.

Successful candidates will have experience working within an academic publishing or e-learning environment. A proven ability to shape content outlines or drafts and edit and improve content. You will need to demonstrate good collaboration skills, including effective listening, verbal and written communication skills. This is an exciting role in an innovative team and would suit someone able to set and follow through on priorities, and handle complex workflows in a fast changing environment.
