Our client, a leading journal and conference proceedings publisher for the research markets is looking for a Head of Journal Publishing to manage the day-to-day operations and strategy of the publishing department. Reporting to the Director of Research & Publishing Services, the Head of Journal Publishing will join an expanding team with these key responsibilities:
- Successful delivery of publishing projects to achieve strategic goals
- Developing publishing offerings
- Leading and managing the publishing team to ensure objectives are met
- Devising and implementing publishing strategies, the business plan, and annual budget
- Implementing processes and standards to ensure publications are on time and to budget
- Accelerating the growth of the online Open Access publishing platform
- Shaping and planning the publishing programme.
The successful candidate will have proven, and ideally senior, editorial or production experience within professional, STM or educational publishing. Experience of leading publishing strategies, launching journals and Open Access publishing is essential and conference proceedings publishing experience would be an advantage. Proven team management is required, as are excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills. Knowledge of web-based technology and management information systems is preferred and professional fluency in English is essential.
