STM publisher with one of the most successful track records for growth over the last ten years is looking to recruit a Managing Editor for their Biomedical Open Access team.

The Managing Editor is responsible for proactively developing OA journals, in order to deliver sustained growth in terms of annual journal revenue and profitability with the following key responsibilities:

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that journals publish high quality content consistently and in a timely manner
  • Engage in peer review processes as required; ensure that all published content meets the required ethical and scientific standards
  • Maintain strong subject knowledge within allocated journal fields
  • Guide editorial strategy of allocated journals and supervise the work of more junior Editors
  • Responsible for developing the quality, profile, market share, budget and financial performance of journals
  • Lead project streams as required, including globally, and deliver consistently positive results
  • Fully responsible for journal budgets, and accountable for profitability
  • Responsible for guiding colleagues and providing oversight regarding plagiarism and duplication concerns.

The successful candidate will have solid OA journal publishing experience in an editorial role. Good commercial awareness and biomedical education to at least BSc level but MSc or higher is preferred. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, have the ability to work under pressure and to influence others.
