Optimization Project Manager – Research Journals

A global academic independent publisher of scholarly books, journals and library resources with one of the most successful track records for growth over the last ten years is looking to recruit an Optimization Project Manager. The successful candidate will manage projects and work closely with the Director, Research Optimisation and Transformation to drive continuous improvement and optimisation across journal publishing processes and workflows.
Plan, organize and facilitate optimization projects from inception to completion
Develop project plans that outline the project scope, objectives, timelines and resource requirements
Create and maintain project schedules and timelines, monitoring progress to ensure that projects are on track
Identify and manage potential project risks and issues, including developing mitigation strategies and contingency plans
Build and manage project team resources, assigning tasks to team members and ensuring deadlines are met
Maintain regular progress reporting including project status, risks/issues and progress against KPIs
Communicate regularly with stakeholder keeping them informed of project status, progress, risks and issues and making recommendations on activities and actions
Support change management activities; create and deliver change management plans to support the implementation of project outcomes and ensure successful adoption of new processes and procedures.
Optimization Project Manager: Skills/experience
Experience within journals publishing environment with a good understanding of journal workflows and processes in hybrid and open access publishing models
Proven experience of project management
An understanding of the concept of change management
Experience in continuous improvement methods such as Lean
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to build and maintain cross-departmental relationships, using strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and take initiative to drive project progress
Highly organised and detail oriented
Good facilitation and negotiation skills
Highly proficient in the use of the Microsoft 365 suite of tools, in particular Excel, SharePoint, Visio and PowerPoint. Good level of competence with Atlassian products such as Confluence.
