A global research publisher with one of the most successful track records for growth over the last ten years is looking to recruit two Product Managers to join the product team to develop online training courses which will support the core activities of higher education institutions around the world. Responsible for creating high quality content that advances the knowledge and skills of academic and professional staff, researchers and students.

Product Manager: Key responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate commercial opportunities and develop compelling business cases and lead an overarching product strategy delivering long-term commercial success
  • Identify market trends and drivers, commercial opportunities, and competitor insights to inform product development
  • Work collaboratively to regularly define, communicate and refine an active and innovative product roadmap that is differentiated and solves user problems
  • Conduct market research into instructor and user challenges, decision drivers, use of teaching and learning materials, and future needs to inform future publishing and frame the publishing plan
  • Manage products throughout the product lifecycle, from strategic planning, bringing new products to market, leading on continuous improvement stages and overseeing product retirement
  • Build on subject matter expertise, market knowledge, and sound editorial judgement in planning and development of high‐quality courses that will deliver usage, reach, impact, and commercial return
  • Forecast and manage costs, including the development of P&L statements
  • Recruit lead advisors and authors, and work with colleagues to improve author experience
  • Attend conferences, webinars and customer meetings where required to present products and deliver thought leadership.

Product Manager: Skills/experience

  • Solid understanding of the principles of eLearning and pedagogical approaches
  • Can demonstrate a deep understanding of product development methods and practices, ideally in a higher education or academic context
  • Has a track record in prioritising activity based upon research and analysis of user needs
  • Proven experience in utilising excellent communication skills and ability to engage with individuals in different functional areas and seniorities
  • Demonstrable experience of signing key subject experts
  • Demonstrable experience of building and maintaining collaborations/partnerships with individuals and organisations.
