Our client, a leading and growing not-for-profit STM Open Access journal publisher, is expanding and recruiting a new Publishing Director, to join its multidisciplinary OA Journals team.

Reporting to the Chief Publishing Officer, the Publishing Director will be responsible for the business management and development of the journals portfolio and will be a strategic partner for the leadership team. The Publishing Director will work to advance strategy, ensuring that the journals portfolio has a strong value proposition and contributes financially. This is an important position where some of the main responsibilities include:
- Work with the CPO to develop and execute strategies that achieve meaningful and sustainable differentiation for the portfolio
- Contribute to the development of new products which add value to the global scientific and scholarly community
- Maintain close contact with the scientific and publishing communities, developing international networks to grow company profile and reputation
- Help to instil a culture of transparency, collaboration and dynamic leadership across the organization
- Lead and inspire your team, working with them to drive initiatives that contribute to growing the portfolio’s top and bottom line, furthering the company’s mission in scientific communication.
We are looking for a strong, articulate and inspirational leader with the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of colleagues, in peer-to-peer and management relationships. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and to successfully implement new strategies along with the flexibility to adapt quickly to change is required. Strong organization to plan and manage resource allocation, business problem solving, empathy, approachable with a strong history of team oversight and talent development are all desired skills and traits. A proven track record in STM publishing, dedication to open access publishing and wide interest in science is needed.
