Our client, a leading research journals publisher, is looking for a Sales Executive based in Germany to drive growth and develop new business across the DACH region. The role involves generating new leads, maintaining and expanding existing relationships with librarians, faculty leaders, and researchers, and providing tailored sales solutions to meet customer needs.

This is a remote-based role with frequent travel across Germany and internationally as required. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sales or business development, strong communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Fluency in English and German is essential, and experience or interest in academic journals sales is highly desirable.

Sales Executive DACH – Key responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of customers, building understanding of their needs to provide tailored sales service and maximise satisfaction
  • Plan, schedule, and carry out online and onsite meetings with key individuals to close adoption business and other sales opportunities using consultative selling techniques
  • Analyse sales figures, run reports, maintain adoption database, and communicate daily with sales, marketing, and editorial teams
  • Monitor sales of key adoptions, identify underperformance, and take appropriate action to address it
  • Maintain CRM systems accurately and in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with other sales teams to provide information that ensures appropriate stockholding and sell-through
  • Build and maintain effective external and internal relationships, supporting understanding of the sales strategy across the business
  • Develop alternative routes to market, including direct sales for digital content, ensuring alignment with overall sales strategy
  • Provide sales manager with reports on activities, highlighting challenges with recommended solutions
  • Prepare for, attend, and contribute to sales meetings to build product knowledge, strategic awareness, and market intelligence.

Sales Executive DACH – Skills/Experience

  • Self-motivated, independent, and organised, with an interest in working in a sales environment
  • Proven track record of success in sales or business development
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong organisation and time management skills
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to make recommendations to support sales targets
  • Committed to maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and service
  • Fluent in English and German.
