An academic publisher with one of the most successful track records for growth over the last ten years is looking to recruit a Senior Publishing Editor to join their Journals team on a 12 month FTC, managing a list comprising both major society and proprietary owned titles.

This is an exciting opportunity to help manage and develop a growing HSS journals programme. The key responsibilities of the role include;

Managing and developing the backlist
Liaising with key partner societies, journal editors and authors
Commissioning new titles
Collaborating with the Global Publishing Director and other senior colleagues
Attending and representing the company at editorial board meetings and conferences
Negotiating contracts
Supporting editors and negotiating with them on terms, content and services
Ensuring that journals are produced, marketed and distributed within budget
Seeing titles from contract through to transmittal into production and marketing
Identifying market trends and contributing to the editorial plan.

The successful candidate will have proven journal management experience and commissioning with demonstrable success in growing and developing titles. They will have strong relationship building skills with the ability to confidently work with academic authors, editors and professional societies. Line management and major contract negotiation would be desirable.
