A leading, independent academic and professional publisher with one of the most successful track records for growth is looking to recruit an Acquisition Editor within their Business & Management Editorial team. This role is responsible for commissioning content for new Business & Management digital products for academic libraries.

This exciting opportunity will see the job holder work both strategically and independently to deliver upon the signing goals on-time and within budget. key responsibilities of the role include;

  • Commissioning of content across Business & Management digital products, including text, video, and data content
  • Contributing to the strategic editorial plans for new products in collaboration with the Executive Editor to achieve ambitious growth plans
  • Negotiating contracts and agreements with editors, authors, and contributors
  • Delivering content on schedule and on budget, implementing commissioning plans effectively and successfully
  • Collaborating with team members in development and launch of new products
  • Preparing and providing Marketing and Sales departments necessary product and competitor information
  • Through research, being aware of and highly capable of communicating the evolving pedagogical needs of the Business school
  • Working effectively with peers to maximise opportunities for leveraging content from a network of authors, editors and societies
  • Communicating with leading academics in discipline to ensure Business & Management products are based on market research
  • Defining market research priorities, making campus visits, joining sales calls and conducting competitive research.

The successful candidate will have related experience in Higher Education Publishing with strong commissioning experience ideally in Business & Management. With an excellent mix of commissioning, relationship-building, and project management skills, you will be someone who works both strategically and independently to deliver upon the signing goals in a timely manner and within budget. You will be able to demonstrate working effectively across an organization to ensure that communication with relevant departments is maintained and content-delivery schedules are achieved. You will be a creative problem solver and effective decision maker, comfortable working in a remotely managed position.
