An academic publisher with one of the most successful track records for growth over the last ten years is looking to recruit a Content Development Editor to join the Editorial team. This is a great opportunity to join a fantastic organisation in a role that drives the quality and sales potential of key products by co-ordinating the writing, shaping and delivery of the physical product and digital resources. Working closely with internal colleagues the role will focus on defining clear development plans and ensuring market needs are met, on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with the Commissioning Editor to create development objectives and plans to meet market needs
• Communicate regularly with authors to ensure deadlines are met
• Carry out market research with lecturers and students to understand their needs
• Provide Marketing & Sales with relevant product and audience information to aid campaign and sales activities
• Collaborate with the Digital Content Manager, Production Editor and Designer to ensure book design is accessible and that print and digital pedagogy are well-integrated
• Support growth of development knowledge with wider editorial team, sharing examples and running occasional training sessions
• Brief colleagues to ensure that each book is designed and produced to be attractive and accessible to its target audience.

Experience

Proactive individuals who take initiative and continually looks for ways to improve who are organised and can prioritise effectively are best suited to this role. You will be able to handle multiple projects and deadlines efficiently with a strong attention to detail. Confident at managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders and a skilled communicator who can influence others. Market research skills are essential including compiling feedback into concise action points. An understanding of the book publishing process would be an advantage. Proficient in all standard IT packages.
