An award-winning, successful and growing digital academic publisher of primary source archive collections in the arts and humanities, is seeking a Digital Production Editor to join its Editorial Production team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-paced environment and passionate team to work across a range of subject areas including literature, history, and cultural studies, leading the development of collections providing digitised content to aid teaching and research.

Key responsibilities

 

  • Manage all aspects of the production of a project ensuring projects are published on time and on budget
  • Monitor expenditure and forecast costs, negotiate and approve quotes and deadlines from external suppliers
  • Manage a project team and external suppliers, delegate appropriately and contribute to in-house Personal Development Plans
  • Create and maintain a clear project plan at all times
  • Conceive and develop site layout and navigation, functionality, homepage design and secondary research tools
  • Manage the image checking and indexing processes, ensuring quality standards and productivity targets are met
  • Commission secondary content from contributing editors
  • Manage the technical build of the project
  • Research and write content for projects
  • Organise and create metadata in spreadsheets for archival collections.

Ideal candidates will have experience in digital editorial, production, project management or content development roles ideally but not essentially within a publishing environment. Project management experience is essential with clear examples of delivering projects within budget and to a schedule. An understanding of primary source and archival content and an interest in digital resources as an educational and research tool would be an advantage but not essential. Suitable candidates will have excellent attention to detail and have strong organisational skills which will help manage complex workflows and multiple projects simultaneously. An aptitude and interest in developing digital production skills is essential.
