One of the Worlds’ leading STM Societies and largest non-government supporter of chemistry education in the UK is looking to appoint an Education Coordinator, home based in Northern Ireland, to work with schools throughout the region to increase teacher access to and engagement with their Chemistry products and services.

Reporting to the Regional Programme Manager, the role holder will be accountable for the following:
- Build successful relationships with schools and teachers of chemistry within schools
- Understand the needs of individual teachers and schools in the area
- Advise teachers and schools in utilising a range of products and services to support their teaching
- Organise opportunities to engage with public engagement activities
- Provide advice on best practice for school’s engagement and public engagement activities
- Improve the confidence of primary teachers to teach science (with a focus on chemistry) through working with Science Leaders and World Around Us coordinators in schools and with partner
- Support Teacher Training of teachers of chemistry, delivering sessions to trainee teachers of chemistry training in all routes
- Develop successful partnerships and relationships with organisations and education stakeholders in the region to support delivery of the plans.
The successful applicant will hold a degree in science, preferably in chemical sciences and be able to demonstrate evidence of working with schools, understanding the needs of teachers of chemistry, in both primary school and post primary as well as FE and HE academics. You will have excellent experience of managing small to medium events, as well as supporting and creating professional development opportunities for adults. A strong understanding of the Northern Ireland curriculum KS4 and KS5 Chemistry and Science would be advantageous. The role is home-based in Northern Ireland, and the successful candidate must be prepared to travel throughout the island of Ireland as required.
