This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a world leading not-for-profit STM society as their Head of Books, on a maternity cover contract, with responsibility for developing their digital books strategy and a business case to transform their overall books business.

Reporting to the Publishing Director your key responsibilities will include:
- Develop vision and strategy for the books programme in line with Publishing strategy
- Delivery ambitious commissioning and publishing targets
- Own and be accountable for the books programme P&L
- Propose, develop and implement new book products, partnerships and acquisitions
- Influencing and liaising with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Direct line management and overall team supervision.
Suitable candidates will have extensive experience of leading the strategic and commercial development of a books programme and experience of managing books editorial and production teams or transferable experience from other aspects of academic publishing. Team/line management experience will be required along with a sound understanding of digital book sales, access models and publishing processes.
