A world leading not-for-profit STM society and membership body is recruiting a Head of Commercial Development to lead the development and implementation of the Innovation and Revenue Diversification Strategic Plan (M&A).

Reporting to the COO, providing strategic support, the role will require working collaboratively across the organisation, leading cross-functional teams to identify new growth opportunities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development and execution of strategic business development plans for the three core lines of business (Publishing, Education and Membership)
  • In conjunction with the Mergers & Acquisitions Advisory Group, develop and execute the strategic M&A plan
  • Work collaboratively across the organisation, leading cross-functional teams to identify new growth opportunities, test and launch new products and services and once launched, ensure smooth transfer
  • Provide strategic support to the COO, including participation in Council, Board and Committee meetings, advisory groups, and in meetings with external partners, suppliers and consultants
  • Evaluate ideas/opportunities and write business cases, and lead these through the governance and business planning framework and approval process
  • Work with the Head of Data Science and Insights to undertake longer term ‘horizon scanning’ and analysis of the external environment
  • Take a customer centric and international approach to product/service development requiring travel to relevant conferences and events.

The successful candidate will have experience and success in M&A transactions and strategic business development expertise in services and digital products. They will have excellent interpersonal skills essential for communicating key strategic decisions. This role would suit someone with an enthusiasm to deliver new products and services with a strong customer centric focus.

You will be rewarded with a salary of £65,460 – £72,733 + Bonus + Strong Benefits.
