A world leading not-for-profit STM society is recruiting a Journal Launch Manager to lead a newly created team responsible for overseeing the launch of a series of open access journals.

Reporting to the OA Journal Publisher, the Journal Launch Manager holds the following key responsibilities:

Launch a series of new open access STM journals
Contribute to a programme identifying ideas/opportunities for new journals
Develop commissioning and content acquisition plans to ensure healthy flow of article submissions
Source, engage with and appoint Academic Editors to provide appropriate scientific leadership of the new journals
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure essential systems and promotional plans are delivered in time for journal launches
Community engagement and market analysis to develop an initial development strategy for each journal
Coordinate with other internal journal managers to manage the handover of journals following their successful launch
Set and manage financial budgets for new journals during the launch phase
Manage, lead and motivate a team of 2 direct reports, and a number of remunerated external Associate Editors.

Suitable candidates will have considerable STM Open Access Journal publishing experience including launching new journals, commissioning, an excellent understanding of the peer review process, editorial policy and marketing. A science degree is required (Physical Science preferred). Excellent communication, influencing, negotiation and relationship building skills is required. The ability to lead and motivate a team is also required.

You will be rewarded with a salary ranging from £50,100 – 55,700 and strong benefits.
