Our client, a world leading library service provider, is looking to recruit a Procurement and Inventory Manager to coordinate all operational aspects of selecting and purchasing books.

Managing buying relationships with publishers and distributors, the Procurement and Inventory Manager will support teams managing the subscription process. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the main responsibilities include:

  • Developing strategies for supplying books to meet customer expectations for pricing/ availability/speed of supply
  • Directing the development of the buying processes used by Procurement to discover forthcoming titles
  • Managing five direct reports and 14 employees
  • Directing the development of best practices to research, process and claim customer orders
  • Developing/maintaining business relationships and terms with publishers and book suppliers
  • Monitoring/managing workload with Approvals team ensuring a wide selection of material
  • Managing/implementing budgetary goals and strategies, measuring and evaluating results
  • Working with the management team to complete tenders to win new business
  • Establishing tools for monitoring and reporting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

The successful candidate will have solid experience in Procurement with a record of success applying technology to forecast product demand and manage inventory. Strong leadership and planning experience are essential, as are excellent communication, organisational, interpersonal and analytical skills. The ability to analyse and interpret large volumes of data is required and experience in the bookselling or publishing industry is preferred.
