Product Manager, New Products – Scholarly Publishing

Our client, a leading independent academic and professional publisher is looking for a Product Manager to join their New Products team. You will be working flexibly to find and develop new innovative products that support researchers and enable student learning. The team work across departments to grow recently launched products and explore new product opportunities, through discovery and fast experimentation. This is an exciting role in an innovative team.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the full cycle of product development from problem definition to launch
  • Manage the incubation process for new product ideas
  • Lead ideation sessions, understand and prioritise researchers problems’, working with team members to design solutions
  • Design and test business models, participate in UX and product concept testing, design product prototypes, test market fit and work with developers to build minimal viable products (MVPs)
  • Talk accurately about your core user personas and their common user journeys
  • Explore new enhancement concepts, effectively drawing on user research and web analytics as well as collaboration with UX Designers to test, validate and evolve
  • Lead the creation of user stories for enhancement projects
  • Guide the development team to prioritise and effectively execute the technology solution
  • Lead project teams and meetings, driving discussions and decisions
  • Develop product KPIs and ensure they are measured, tracked and communicated
  • Interact regularly with product customers and users to ensure full understanding of their wants, needs and perspectives
  • Actively engage in emerging technologies, techniques and innovations to drive strategic business decisions.

To be considered for this role candidates will have experience working in the early stages of product development, from defining the problem to finding the product market fit. An awareness of the Academic Publishing Industry or Higher Education landscape is also required. You will need strong analytical and problem solving skills and have a good understanding of the latest tech trends. Experience with Agile development and tools, such as Jira, and a working knowledge of Google Analytics or equivalent user analytic tools is necessary.
