Our client, a leading independent academic and professional publisher is looking for a Publisher, Research Journals (12 month FTC). You will be responsible for a specific journal portfolio, including strategy execution and overall commercial performance. Key responsibilities

Develop and execute editorial strategy on a significant portfolio of journals
Actively manage and grow portfolio quality, profile, market share and financial performance
Build and maintain positive internal and external relationships, including with learned societies, journal editors and boards
Oversee the successful negotiation and renewal of contracts, providing guidance on financial decisions and approving draft contracts
Assess business opportunities, confidently advising and leading on activities for new business acquisitions
Prepare and review profit and loss statements, analysing them in the context of commercial requirements and the competitive environment
Identify current and future market trends; contribute to and assist in the implementation of the editorial strategy.

Suitable candidates for this exciting position will have extensive experience in journals publishing and a proven track record of profitable list development. Strong financial acumen and sound commercial judgement is key. Alongside strategic awareness, including a detailed understanding of industry trends and best practice. Strong project management skills and an aptitude to drive new initiatives is also required.
