Our client, a world-leading library service provider, is looking to recruit a Publisher Operations Manager to coordinate all operational aspects of vendor selection and book purchasing.

This role manages the buying relationships with publishers and/or their distributors as well as overseeing the order processing and the fulfilment statuses of customer orders across all print titles. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the main responsibilities include:
- Carry out people management responsibilities for a team of 11
- Develop strategies for supplying books in a manner that meets customer expectations
- Direct development and use of buying processes used by the Procurement team to discover forthcoming titles, forecast demand and ordering of books
- Direct best practices used to research, process and claim customer orders
- Develop and maintain business relationships and terms with publishers/book suppliers
- Manage and implement budgetary goals/strategies, measuring and evaluating results
- Working with management team to complete new business tenders
- Provide regular reporting/metrics on the departmental/business unit performance
- Support teams managing subscription and SO process and the profiling of new titles.
- Deputise for the Head of Ops as and when necessary.
The successful candidate will have significant experience in Procurement and ideally within a Bookselling or Publishing industry. A record of success applying technology to forecast product demand and manage inventory along with sound leadership and planning experience is required. Outstanding organisation, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills are needed as is advanced MS Office and experience with WMS, ERP or similar business systems.
