Publisher, Research Methods – Academic Publishing
£52,300 – £64,300 + benefits + bonus
Our client, a successful global research publisher is recruiting for a Publisher to join their dynamic editorial team to commission and develop a diverse range of multimedia content. The platform is dedicated to supporting excellence in research methods teaching and learning. Ideal candidates will value the impact of academic research and have a passion for digital publishing so they can contribute to the advancement of academic publishing excellence. This role includes management responsibility for a team of Senior Commissioning Editors to ensure the successful implementation of commercially strong products.
Management responsibility for a team of Senior Commissioning Editor/Commissioning Editors(s), Associate Editor(s), Assistant Editor(s), and/or Editorial Assistant(s)
Ensure the team’s successful development of commercially successful products following their strategic goals, working with other Research Methods product team members collaboratively on this work
Support the development of longer-term strategies for Research Methods products working closely with other colleagues
Collaborate with the wider departmental colleagues as appropriate including Sales, Marketing, and Production
Responsible for the budget for Editorial team members and content acquisition
Independently represent Publishing externally at national and international conferences and university campuses (as required)
Contribute positively to departmental and cross-departmental meetings and look for opportunities to improve workflows and processes.
Publisher, Research Methods: Skills/experience
You will have good experience as a line manager, able to demonstrate effective one-to-one as well as team management
You will have the ability to set and follow through on priorities, as well as manage performance and motivate and develop reports/teams. This involves setting, tracking, and ultimately taking responsibility for the commissioning targets for the editorial team to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality online content that is competitive in the market
You will have significant commissioning experience within an academic / higher education publishing context or be able to demonstrate equivalent competence
You will be confident in creating positive, engaged working relationships with our authors, contributors, reviewers, and other external partners as appropriate
You can demonstrate effective decision-making and problem-solving
You have excellent organizational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to delegate efficiently
You can work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Finally, being able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for digital publishing and/or the value of academic research to our end users would also be an advantage.
A salary of £52, 300 – £64, 300 plus bonus, and benefits package is offered.
