Our esteemed client, a prominent global STM research publisher, is actively seeking a dedicated Publishing Manager to become an integral part of their team. In this role, you will assume responsibility for shaping the content and strategic direction of an expanding portfolio of researcher training solutions.

Publishing Manager: Key responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Publishing to develop business strategy by defining and preparing a roadmap for development of training services and new content
  • Work independently to identify and drive forward specific projects that align with the goals and strategies of the Researcher Training Solutions team
  • Offer insight and suggestions to support the Head of Publishing in optimising and streamlining systems and processes within the publishing team to ensure efficiency
  • Establishing workflow processes to ensure continuous improvement and QA of editor-led training materials
  • Ensuring that the quality of the publishers’ brand is maintained across all materials
  • Ensure training products are engaging and continue to meet the diverse and changing needs of today’s researchers
  • Supervising the content of in-person training workshops and webinars delivered by Editors
  • Line-manage the Associate Publishing Manager
  • Work with marketing team to create promotional product collateral.

Publishing Manager: Skills/experience

  • Experience working within higher education, scientific research, scientific or educational/academic publishing, science communication and/or educational/training product development
  • Strong project management experience: running projects, controlling costs and hitting deadlines
  • Some prior experience in publishing and product development
  • A passion for editorial excellence and superb attention to detail
  • The ability to quickly understand key concepts in academic papers on a wide range of topics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A passion for excellence in scientific research
  • Significant experience in, or demonstrable understanding of, the research environment and the needs of researchers and institutions as key customers (desirable, but not required).
