Featured Product Analyst, New Products – Scholarly Publishing

Our client, a leading independent academic and professional publisher is looking for a Product Analyst to identify opportunities for new products and acquisition opportunities, in addition to supporting the New Products and Technology from teams on quantitative and qualitative market analysis projects, building relationships with start-ups and companies within the teaching and learning space.

Key responsibilities

 

  • Support the New Products and Technology from teams to landscape the market of opportunities
  • Track emerging companies and technologies in the teaching and learning space
  • Find and screen companies solving big problems who could benefit from partnering
  • Build relationships with these companies and introduce them to stakeholders across the business
  • Analyse financial and company data, and coordinate due diligence to support acquisition or investment processes
  • Interpret competitor and start-up data and communicate trends and recommendations to  immediate team members and other teams across the business
  • Prepare written materials, such as landscape maps, acquisition memos, opportunity memos and trend narratives
  • Support team members in developing cost models and estimates for their products
  • Continuously look for ways to improve to deliver more value to customers and drive efficiencies.

 

To be considered for this role, candidates will have a strong awareness of the Academic Publishing industry, or HE landscape, with a deep curiosity and passion for spotting opportunities in the market, as well as following and understanding market trends. With a superior attention to detail and excellent relationship building skills, candidates will be required to demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experience of data interpretation, recommendations and carrying out due diligence, with a Lean mindset. Expert Excel skills are also required for this role and those with computer programming skills would also be at an advantage.
